The Mark 2: Redemption is the continuation of the storyline from The Mark. It seamlessly picks up where the previous movie ends, and the story continues. The main character Chad Turner (Craig Scheffer) along with his new companion Dao (Sonia Couling) now find themselves in the midst of total world chaos. As the story unfolds, Chad’s knowledge of Christian teaching tells him that they have just witnessed the Rapture, and the world has now entered the 7-year Tribulation period. In the midst of this apparent “tragedy”, world leaders come together like never before in Earth’s history, and begin to rally behind a billionaire philanthropist who proposes to prevent another mass disappearance by implementing a tracking technology called M.A.R.C. And so, Chad Turner is now being hunted by Avanti, the company who developed this technology, because he has the one successful tracking chip implanted in his arm.
The Mark 2: Redemption has plenty of action and suspense, which is refreshing because so many of these end-of-times movies often come off as corny and boring. Over the years, I have sat through many church youth group meetings where they have shown similar movies. I was always the guy who was sitting in the back row with my buddies, making fun of the cheesy characters and completely unrealistic storyline. Such was not the case with this movie. It does a very good job of drawing you into the story by providing interesting sub-plots involving some detailed and well-rounded characters. It provides Hollywood-type entertainment, while still staying true to Biblical accuracy. The camera work and overall style of the movie reminds me of T.V. shows such as 24 or CSI, with a lot of back-and-forth camera shots that grab your attention. And although the acting of certain supporting characters is a little lacking, the actors portraying the lead roles are excellent and very believable.  I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys a good action/suspense movie, as well as any church youth leader looking for a way to make Bible teaching appealing to his young people.
